LRA Enterprises Auto Museum Web Tour![]() ![]() 1969 Ford 429 Boss Mustang ![]() The Boss 429 Engine was Ford's own version of the "HEMI" and went into direct competition with Mopar and Chevy. This car was strictly built to compete in the stock car racing at NASCAR. These cars were built by Ford, then sent to Motorcraft for modification to house the massive engines, then sold back to Ford. Conservatively rated at 375 Horse the mandatory options included a four-speed and a 3.91:1 Traction-Lok Rear ("Detroit Locker"), an oil cooler, trunk-mounted battery, beefed suspension with front and rear stabilizer bars, Polyglas F60X15s, quicker power steering, and power front discs rounded out the functional hardware. This was the costliest and rarest non-Shelbey Mustang ever produced! Only 1350 of these Mustangs were produced and a little over 700 known to exist today. Please take a look at the pictures below.
